My Process and Pricing

Creating my textile art is a deeply personal and intricate process, built on years of honing skills and refining techniques. Each piece I create is a unique fusion of several artistic methods, combining free motion sewing and also block printing, which involves hand carved prints to craft something that is not just visually stunning but also rich and meaningful art.

My process begins with the creation of my own textiles. I start by handcrafting fabrics, often experimenting with different techniques like cutting up pieces of fabric into tiny pieces to create a portrait or mono printing on gelli plates. This allows me to ensure that every piece of fabric used in my artwork is one-of-a kind and carries its own distinctive qualities. I take great care in mixing colors, patterns, and textures. This gives me a wide range of options to choose from when it comes to shaping the final piece.

I also use block prints which involves hand carving a block to create a design or image. Through the block printing process, I transfer the image using high quality paints that are then transferred onto fabric. This then creates a rich pattern that are then layered and or manipulated in various ways. This is incredibly time consuming, as each print must be applied carefully.

Free motion sewing is a technique that allows me to stitch directly onto the fabric, almost like drawing or hand painting with a needle. It's a delicate and detailed process, giving me the flexibility to add intricate stitching and texture that complements the prints I've created. The free motion sewing adds depth and dimension to the piece, transforming the fabric into dynamic artwork that feels alive.

The amount of time that goes into each piece is substantial, as I take pride in every step of the creation process. From designing and carving blocks and stitching each layer with precision, every detail is thoughtfully considered. This intricate process is what makes my work so unique and timeless. It's about the craftmanship and care that goes into the fine art.

Each artwork is the result of hours of work, starting with the design process and then followed by all these skills that are mentioned above. The price for each individual piece is then determined by the complexity and the size.
