The foundation of the work is a monoprint of leaves in soft blues and rich greens and yellows.  Their organic shapes are like delicate memories of summer's touch. Each leaf varies in opacity, some appearing bold and crisp while others fade gently into the background, creating a layered effect.
 
Over this, free-motion stitching traces and enhances the natural contours of the leaves adding depth. The thread dances over the surface, sometimes following the shapes precisely, other times flowing freely like a summer breeze rustling through foliage. Hints of golden stitching suggests dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy, while tiny, curling tendrils extend beyond the edges of the leaves.
